The grand, turn-of-the-century lakeshore Regina Palace, once popular with European royalty, is located on Lake Maggiore in the town of Stresa. Its 170 Guestrooms are a celebration of Belle Epoque opulence, with wall and ceiling frescoes, gilt detail, chandeliers, intricate plaster coving and mouldings, and period-style fabrics and furnishings in deep burgundy, gold and French blue. All rooms are equipped with cable television, direct-dial phones, Internet connections, safes and minibars. Bathrooms include shower/tub combinations, hair dryers, bidets and complimentary toiletries.
Since opening its doors in 1908 the hotel has served as a welcome retreat for Europe's elite, playing host to King Umberto II of Italy, Maria Jose of Belgium, George Bernard Shaw and President Berlusconi. The Liberty restaurant offers an a la carte lunch and dinner menu in grand surroundings, and during summer the restaurant extends onto the terrace. The Charleston offers intimate dining with an emphasis on fine food and wine. Business travellers can make use of the regal conference and banqueting rooms, which are equipped with audio-visual facilities and can accommodate up to 400 people. Guests can work out in the onsite fitness room, which includes a six-person whirlpool tub with views across the lake. Multilingual front-desk staff can offer tour assistance, provide room service and arrange transport to and from the airport. Free garage parking is available for all guests arriving by car. The Borromean Islands are three kilometres away and can be reached by boat in ten minutes, Mottarone Mountain is six kilometres away and is accessible by cable car, and the beautiful botanical gardens of Villa Taranto are 20 kilometres away. The nearest international airport is Milan Malpensa 35 kilometres away.

The airport railway station is at the -1 level of terminal 1. Stresa railaway station is 200 metres from the hotel. Various bus and shuttle services run to and from destinations in and around Milan, including Central station and Linate Airport. Taxis to the city centre charge in the region of 65 EUR.
From Milan Malpensa Airport the green 'Autostrada' signs. Take the freeway to Busto Arsizio and then the autostrada toward Gravellona Toce. Exit at Baveno Stresa. Pass through Baveno, continue for three kilometres, and look out for the hotel on the right.
