Location. The central Radisson SAS Plaza Hotel is located in Helsinki, Finland, 100 metres from the Grand Casino and Kaisaniemi Park and 600 metres from the Esplanade's designer shops. Uspenski Cathedral, Market Square and Finlandia Palace are all within 800 metres.
Hotel Features. Constructed in 1917, the Radisson SAS Plaza Hotel building is part-protected by the Helsinki City Museum. The hotel has a 24-hour front desk and garden area.

The former headquarters of the SOK Corporation are now the setting for the Radisson SAS Plaza Hotel's Restaurant Paakonttori. The restaurant serves Italian and European cuisine and seasonal dishes. Contemporary spot lighting and wooden floors decorate the modern hotel bar. Coffees, beers and cocktails are on offer. A complimentary buffet breakfast is served daily.

Small groups can be accommodated in the hotel's meeting rooms. There is a business centre at the hotel. Wireless Internet access is available. Complimentary newspapers are provided in the lobby.

On the second floor, guests will find the hotel's well-equipped gym and saunas. There is also a massage table and Shiatsu massages can be booked.

Guestrooms. The Radisson SAS Plaza Hotel's 302 air-conditioned guestrooms feature classic Italian or Nordic-inspired interiors. All rooms have satellite television, dial-up Internet connections and minibars.

Expert Tip. Uspenski Cathedral, only 800 metres from the hotel, is said to be Western Europe's largest orthodox church.

From Helsinki Vantaa Airport (HEL):
Distance to Radisson SAS Plaza Hotel is 17 kilometres, approximately 30 minutes' drive.

Getting there. Taxis from the airport to Helsinki city centre cost approximately 30 EUR, and journey time is 30 minutes. Public buses (numbers 415, 451, 519 and 615) leave for Helsinki city centre every 10-30 minutes, and cost about 3.50 EUR. Finnair city buses depart every 15-20 minutes and run until midnight daily. Single tickets cost about 5 EUR. Bus stops can be found outside both terminals. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. The hotel is on Mikonkatu. The main railway station is 100 metres away. Helsinki's public transport system (HKL) includes buses, trams and a metro system. Most of the metro lines run until 11.30 p.m. Tickets cost less when purchased prior to boarding. A HKL tourist ticket is available, offering unlimited travel on all forms of public transport. Taxis are also available, spotted by their illuminated yellow lights. Ferries run from the harbour to the Suomenlinna fortress. Valet parking is available at the hotel.

Driving directions. From Helsinki Vantaa Airport:
Take Lantinen Huoltotie/Vastra servicevagen.
Turn right onto Bergpassvagen/Kalliosolantie.
Turn left again onto Dickursbyvagen/Tikkurilantie.
Take the first exit at the roundabout.
Turn right onto Backasvagen/Pakkalantie and right again onto Keha III.
Take Road 45 and exit towards Keskusta.
Follow Backasgatan for about three kilometres before turning right onto Hameentie.
Turn left onto Broholmsgatan, carry on along Pitkasilta and Unioninkatu.
Turn right onto Kaisaniemenkatu and right again onto Vilhelmsgatan.
Turn right onto Mikonkatu. The hotel is 50 metres away.
