Location. The Academy, The Bloomsbury Town House is a collection of five Victorian townhouses set within the city's literary district of Bloomsbury in London, England. This boutique property stands 400 metres from Oxford Street and 500 metres from the British Museum.
Hotel Features. This non-smoking hotel features a Victorian lobby with intimate seating arrangements and concierge-style registration. Two private gardens, The Library Garden and the Conservatory Garden, are extensions of sitting rooms by the same names. The hotel offers cocktails in the Library Garden during warm-weather months, and the Conservatory displays a collection of flowering plants, a fish pond and a trellis. Alchemy Restaurant offers English and continental breakfasts for a fee. Function rooms include the atmospheric underground Alchemy Room with capacity for 40 people, while the Boardroom accommodates up to 18 people. Wireless Internet access is available for a fee.

Guestrooms. The Academy, The Bloomsbury Town House offers 49 guestrooms and suites, some with split-level bathrooms and free-standing, claw-foot bathtubs. Bathrooms include designer Molton Brown toiletries, slippers and bathrobes. Rooms reflect Victorian décor and feature beds draped in Egyptian-cotton linens. Airy suites carry the names of infamous members of the Bloomsbury Set, including the Virginia Wolf Suite. Room amenities include satellite television, CD players and wireless Internet access for a fee. Guestrooms also include coffeemakers and minibars. Laptop-compatible, in-room safes are provided.

Getting there. Buses and underground trains run every few minutes from London Heathrow Airport into central London. The best way to get to the hotel is by taking the Heathrow Express to Paddington station, then an underground train to Tottenham Court Road Station, which is located 300 metres from the hotel. Black cabs are available at the airport. The hotel operates a shuttle service for a fee.


Getting around. London's underground train network operates to most tourist attractions. Tottenham Court Road station is 300 meters from the hotel. Buses also navigate the city.

London charges congestion zone fees within clearly marked, designated areas of city. Those who operate vehicles within these zones are assessed daily fees that apply Mondays through Fridays.

The money-saving Oyster Card is a smartcard that stores up to 90 pounds of pay-as-you-go credit. It can be used on the Tubes, buses, DLR, trams and select national rail services throughout London. Oyster Cards are less expensive than single fares, and daily price capping automatically calculates the least expensive fare for single-day journeys. Oyster Cards can be purchased at the Oyster website, most Tube station ticket offices, at Oyster Ticket Stops, at select National Rail ticket offices, at select London Travel Information Centres, and by telephone at 0845 330 9876.
