Hotel Traiano - Civitavecchia

Stayed for 1 night before our cruise. Taxi from train station for 4 people cost 10Euro and hotel took us to the ship in the morning. Not much nearby except a couple of Pizza places. Comfortable rooms and breakfast was the normal Italian, sweet pastries hams, cheese etc. Receptionists spoke very good english and were helpful.

The hotel was fairly easy to get to by cab, and they offered free shuttle service to the cruise ship. The breakfast, which was included, offered a number of options.

Great location if you're taking a cruise. (We rented a car) The breakfast was very nice.

We booked a room here for our honeymoon, upon returning from a Mediterranean cruise. When we got off the cruise at 7am, there were no taxis who would take us to the hotel. We figured because it was so close to the cruise terminal, the taxis probably wanted to make more money taking passengers farther. Which is ridiculous because in San Francisco, a taxi driver has no problem charging you $15 to go less than one mile. But, whatever. We waited and waited and asked people at the cruise terminal for directions and some of the terminal people advised us to call the hotel for a shuttle to come pick us up. We couldn’t find a phone, so we ended up taking a shuttle bus offered by the cruise to exit the terminal. Once outside, there was a little visitor booth and they were kind enough to look up the phone number of the hotel for us. I walked across the street to a pay phone and dialed their number. After being unsuccessful at reaching someone at the hotel, we decided to just walk around and ask for directions or try again to catch a taxi. We waved down 2 more taxis and neither of them wanted to take us, of course. At this point, we were pretty fed up with taxi drivers, so we decided to just ask for directions and walk. We had 4 pieces of luggage, 2 large and 2 carry ons. We asked at least 7 store fronts and no one knew where the hotel was, even after we gave them the address. We did, however, see some signs pointing towards the direction of the hotel, from the main strip we were on. We continued to lug 4 pieces of luggage UPHILL and after about 2 whole hours of searching for it, had found it. Once there, we found out that there is a shuttle that picks up from the cruise terminal, but not until 10am. That would have been nice to know ahead of time, you think? While we were waiting to check in, another couple was checking out and was complaining endlessly about how incompetent the staff was there. They requested to speak to a manager, but was told there was no manager that day

We arrived at the hotel after 6:00 pm and were given a great room that included a private balcony, a sitting room, and a 2nd bedroom. We were able to walk to the restaurant recommended by the hotel - "Aurelia" and had a great meal of tri-folded pasta with Asparagus puree. There is a food market a short distance from the hotel. The hotel has a computer with an internet connection that can be used for a few Euro. We also were given a free shuttle to our cruise ship the next morning. A great one-night stay.

The hotel staff was very friendly. We had arranged an airport pickup (extra charge - but well within range) They were right there - and spoke great english. Room was a 1 bedroom suite (one couple - one father) the sofa bed in the living room was already turned down - as we arrived in the evening. Room had a stove - so we could heat up a cup of tea since our body clocks were way off. Great transportation to the cruise terminal in the morning. Right on time! The town was lovely as well - great neighborhood. Found a market just a couple blocks away to get some waters and sodas.

This hotel was very good. The staff is really what made the difference. They are very friendly and always willing to assist.

Nice for a short stay, but keep it's about a 20 minute walk to the nearest restaurants, over uneven pavement. On other than a weekend, this might not be true, but many places nearby were closed for us. Staff was very nice, breakfast good, and other than the rather remote (for a city hotel) location, it was what we were looking for. They provided a free shuttle to the port for our cruise at the end of our stay. Somewhat noisy location outside, and without real air conditioning, the windows needed to be open for our stay in late October.

On October 24th, a hotel shuttle picked us up late in the evening at Fiumicino Airport and drove us to the hotel (for a nominal amout that was less than the cost of a taxi). By European standards Hotel Traiano is a very nice, four star hotel. Our suite was clean and comfortable. The amenities included a kitchen facilities that we didn't use. The bathroom had a bidet. The bed was very comfortable with great blackout drapes. The staff was extremely friendly and accomodating. In the morning, they gave us a map and pointed out things to see. One couldn't ask for anything more. On October 25th, in the afternoon, the hotel shuttle took us to our ship.

We only stayed 2 days but it made our trip outstanding staff bent over backward to accomadate us .They also upgraded us as the room we requested was not redy for a early check on.Do not miss the out door market onley minutes from hotel.

This hotel was well situated for my group--we were waiting until the next day to begin a cruise. Very much appreciated was the shuttle from the hotel to the pier. The two-room suite was large, comfortable, clean, and equipped with a kitchen, which we didn't use. If I returned to this area, I would definitely stay at the Hotel Traiano again.

The bed was not very comfortable (hard mattress, flat pillows) or luxurious (cheap bedspread). Looks sort of like your dorm room. We had to ask numerous times for glasses, pillows etc. They would do themselves a favor by purchasing new bed linens and furniture. Parking is extremely limited. Nice for a 2 1/2 or 3 star hotel. Staff was friendly though.

Be aware of clerk at hotel Traiano in Roma, clerk pretend to not notice that email are intended for Traiano in CIVITAVECCHIA-it can be very costly error

Almost everything about our stay, from the smiling face of Alessandro at the airport as he held a sign with our name to the convenient delivery of us and our luggage to the cruise terminal 2 days later, was excellent. The staff is outstanding and the breakfast was simple but sufficient. The room, while not as air conditioned as we are accustomed to in the US, was comfortable. Our only hesitation is with the location. We like to walk but the hotel is a 10 to 15 minute uphill walk from any restaurants and the train station to Rome. We are elderly and our days in August were very hot and humid, so the location was a bit difficult. At another time of year, or at another stage in our lives, this would not have been a problem. If walking is not a problem for you , this is a great place to stay if you are coming or going from a cruise.

Hotel Traiano is owned by two brothers who take great care of their guests. The hotel offers a shuttle service to and from the airport and port. Rooms and public areas are neat and tidy. The breakfast room/bar is a comfortable room to enjoy the buffet breakfast served each mornin, or to sit and have a drink in the evening. Located on a quiet street, the hotel is within walking distance of the shopping area, train station, restaurants, and beach.

We choose this hotel because of previous reviews I had read on it's convenience for Cruise travellers. The hotel was absolutely perfect for a one night stay prior to our cruise departure. The hotel rooms were quite basic but very comfortable and ideal for a one/two night stay. The public areas like the dining room were not great and breakfast was pretty poor but reflective with the cost. The staff however in the hotel were exceptional, very friendly and couldn't do enough to help with whatever you needed. The hotel also arrange for a transfer to the port which is literally 5 mins drive from hotel, which was very well organised and free! I would definately recommend to Cruise travellers, it's absolutely ideal both for comfort and cost!

The hotel was very nice, staff was great and super helpful, we came in by train and it was further than we expected from the train station. The next day we had a cruise and they were great in taking us right where the cruise departed from with their shuttle. The complimentary breakfast was quite adequate and pleasant. I would definitely stay again for a cruise departure but I would probably set up a pick up at the train station or the airport with them prior to come.

Outstanding Hotel; Helpful staff; fantastic especially if you are catching a cruise ship the next day.

Et greit sted for å sove en natt, men ikke mer. Ligger litt for usentralt i forhold til bysentrum. Positivt med gratis shutle til cruisehavnen
