Helmhaus Swiss Q Hotel - Zürih

Given the high prices of hotels in Switzerland, this hotel offered reasonable value for the money. The room was larger than most, with nice bathroom. Breakfast was simple but good quality. Hotel staff was friendly.

My girlfriend and I stayed for two nights and were impressed by the service we received from the staff. They were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were delicious, and the rooms of a good size and clean. When we left here was a misunderstanding with an item on the bill, and although we had to pay for it at the time they took our details and when they found out the error was theirs, they promptly repaid the money. My only problem is that although they have internet access for free via a terminal, like a lot of other hotels their WiFi access is crazily overpriced. CHF20 for 4 hours!? I really don't understand why when you step into a hotel data fees escalate by a factor of 1,000x (or more)... Helmhaus and hotels in general should provide this service at a price that relects their costs.

The hotel staff was very friendly and attentive. The room was small, but clean and and well kept. The hotel is located in a convienent location to downtown Zurich.

The hotel is hidden behind in the backstreet parallel to the main road, behind a pasta restaurant, you will not be able to see the hotel sign unless you're walking on that pedestrianised part itself! Satnav sent me to that spot on the main road but I was baffled and gave up and asked for directions in the end. No parking available, they have 3 reserved spaces for 30 Euros, and that is at the Promenade Parking. We didn't reserve but parked there anyway overnight for 36 Euros (40 Euros if 24hr). The parking lot is a bit of a walk if you have luggage. I ended up driving the wrong way up that pedestrian section when we checked out; was NOT doing that luggage trek again!

Location was perfect to visit restaurants at night and within walking distance of train station and business district. Would certainly stay there again.

Don't have room 53. I cracked my head on the bathroom ceiling and burnt my feet in the very narrow shower, when my hip accidentally moved the tap and the water temperature changed from warm to boiling hot. The room was clean and had everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. I liked the plasma TV with loads of channels, the delicious toffee that was left on my pillow, the spotlessly clean sheets, the wonderful Swiss breakfast and the lovely welcoming staff. The hotel is situated near the river, which is convenient for visiting the shops and restaurants in the old town and for gazing at the spectacularly beautiful lake. I would definitely stay there again but not in the attic rooms.

Helmhaus is in a great location, in the 'old town'. The staff were very friendly including when I had to request alternative bedding to the feather duvets late-ish on our first night. However, the room was quite basic: clothes rail instead of a wardrobe and a tiny ensuite with just a shower. Also, they only serve breakfast so you have to go out for lunch and dinner, although there are plenty of places nearby. No room service except for some drinks. Beware of the CHF5 per night 'city tax' that wasn't covered by our pre-paid bill.

From the welcoming spiced apple punch to the simple yet comfortable rooms, this hotel is recommended to anyone who wants to stay in Zurich on a budget yet still wants those little comforts that usually only more expensive hotels offer. Best of all it's smack in the middle of town and about 10mins walk from most of the places you'll want to go to. Highly recommended.

The hotel is hard to find by car, directions are hard to follow. It's in a walking only area of Zurich, so parking is over 2 blocks away. Room's were small but comfy. Poor wireless internet service. Breakfast was good. Location great, in the heart of Zurich center. Not really a very romantic hotel more for business people.

We found this hotel right in the heart of the action in Zurich. However, it was difficult to find. We had a navigation system in our rental car and it was not clear that we needed to drive on what appeared to be a sidewalk to get to the hotel. Granted, we are not expert drivers in Europe. However, the door to this hotel is right on the corner of an area that includes shopping and dining. Loved the place, but be prepared to hear from late night revelers. This hotel is right in the heart of a lot of action. Front desk spoke english very well and was very nice and helpful in more ways than one. If you are going to Zurich and don't have a particular reason to stay somewhere else, this is a great hotel. Nice, comfortable, and close to everything in Zurich.

Nice hotel with clean and tidy rooms. The breakfast was ok, the personel was super. Will definately book again if in Zurich.

Hotel ist sehr schön und zentral gelegen, die Zimmer sind etwas klein.

Enges Hotel, alles sehr einfach ausgestattet. Keine Parkmoeglichkeit, Gepaeck schleppen ist angesagt. Baeder ohne Fenster, Zimmer sehr hellhoerig und morgens laut. Preis steht in keinem gesunden Verhaeltnis zur gebotenen Leistung. Normalerweise eher in der Fuenfundsiebzig Euro Kategorie anzusiedeln.

Der Service ist freundliche, die Zimmer sauber. Gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis für Züricher Verhältnisse.
