Starlite Hotel - Miami Beach

Hotel was right in the middle of everything, so able to walk and not have to get a taxi.

GREAT location. For the price paid, I was very impressed with the hotel. I would stay there again.

Great location... pretty simple hotel. You get a room, bed, bathroom and that's about it. It was good for what we wanted. It's right on the party strip in Miami, the hotel faces the beach but you won't get ocean views. I'd stay here again.

If your goal is to go to the hotel and drop your bags and to have a place to stumble into after a night of partying, just to lay your head, then the Starlite is your number one spot. The rooms leave something to be desired, but they were clean, roach free and they served their purpose.

Read some bad review about the hotel being dirty. Actually quite clean. Great price and gread location. Ice machine does not work, TV a little small and some of the changes kept going out. But other than that, very good experience.

Loved this hotel,and it's my second visit. Can't wait to return soon!

Beds were not comfortable but it served the purpose. Was there to basically shower and sleep a little, didn't spend much time in the room at all. Location was great, right next to everything on South Beach. The hotel staff was very helpful and courteous. Was impressed with the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the fact that the room also had a mini fridge in it. Overall a decent place to stay if you don't plan on being in the room much or sleeping for a long period of time.

This was probably the 4th time I've stayed at Starlite and I'm sure I'll be staying there again, but this is the first time I've taken the time to write a review. I stayed in a single queen room and found it completely adequate. It had a refrigerator and microwave, which came in handy for storing drinks and rewarming leftovers. It's good to have a cooler for some ice though, as the little ice bucket that they provide is way too small. The ice machine is downstairs, just ask the friendly desk attendant. The bed was clean, the AC was cold, and the water was hot. This time the room I stayed in on the second floor had a slow-draining tub which was kind of annoying, but it's the first time something like that has happened to me at this hotel. One other complaint is that they would only leave one washcloth, but you can ask for more. You really can't beat the location, it's right in the middle of some great bars and restaurants and the beach is right across the street. Can't wait to go back, I always have a great time on South Beach when staying at this hotel!

The hotel is located across the street from the beach and within walking distance of many bars, restaurants, and shops. However, my room left a lot to be desired. I was happy to have a fridge and microwave at this price point; however, when I opened the fridge a roach ran out and there was water everywhere. They must have turned it off while the room was empty and it defrosted. I went to the phone to call for a mop and there was a brown sticky substance under the phone. The toilet leaked and the windows were filthy. They did have good towels. Like I said, the best thing about this hotel is the location; luckily I only stayed one night. I couldn't wait to get out of there.

Hotel is conveniently located to the beach. Room needs more cleaning as far as I am concerned.

EVERYTHING WAS OK.. JUST WISH THE SIZE OF THE ROOM WAS A LITTLE BIGGER.. AND WISH THE HAD KING SIZE BEDS.. THE QUEEN SIZE BED SEEMS SMALL... THE LOCATION OF THE HOTEL WAS PERFECT!! A+ ON THAT..

Ummm I wasnt expecting much given the price however at the very least the room was clean....only except I noticed a roach....and i am roach-a-phobic...other than that...front desk was very helpful and friendly....very close to the beach and WEt Willies....and descent room.

Stayed here to visit Mango's niteclub, only two blocks down the strip. Lots of places, lots of fun. Good room for cheap $. Watch out on your tips as they are already figured into the bill. A 7.50 beer becomes $9.31 as if magic. Very interesting area, almost like another country.

This hotel is PERFECT for couples or singles who are on a budget and just want to be within walking distance to EVERYTHING! We had everything at our doorstep...shopping, food, beach, lounges, etc. We stayed in a standard room, so no view, but all we needed was a place to sleep and shower, so this hotel was perfect for us and a GREAT price! I would recommend this to a friend. Parking is a pain, we paid $22/a day for valet service, but it beats having to pay to park on the street or staying so far away from the hotel that you have to pay a taxi to get back. I have no complaints, it was a great stay, and if I go back to the Miami area, I will be staying at the Starlite!

When we decided to go to South Beach on a budget, we were told it couldn't be done. Well, thanks to hotels.com and the Starlite Hotel, it was done, and we were happy. Our only complaint was that our trip was too short. Yes, the Starlite is an older hotel, but it looks like they've made a lot of changes to it. Our room was nice and comfy. We were steps from the beach, all the restaurants and nightlife that South Beach has to offer. The staff was very accommodating and really helped us out when we had questions. The room wasn't huge, but for a decades-old hotel it was great. You're at the beach; you're not going to spend time in your room anyway. But if you do, there were a lot of cable channels on the TV.

My husband and I enjoyed room and the location. I could believe the price was excellent for the bad economy.

Thugs and drug dealers hanging out at the very small bar in the even smaller lobby. The "bar/rest." in the lobby is a franchise operation with the slimiest characters I've ever come across! The staff of this pit seems to be part of the operation as well and the hotel owner could care less when you complain. Sleazy, with a capital sleaze. The room was cheap though.

I stayed there on a Sunday after taking a 7 day cruise. For the money, it was a real deal. The only complaint that I can make is that my room was not ready until 30 minutes after check-in time. I had been waiting outside with my bags in the open lobby for over four hours since the cruise got in to the port at 0800.

I read the reviews on this website and tripadvisor before booking, and was fearful of what the hotel would be. I booked it because it had a perfect location and all the four-star hotels were pretty far away. The location was just what I wanted! I was shocked to find the room nice, clean, and larger than expected. My room came with two double beds, a small kitchenete (refrigerator, freezer, microwave, sink), and a reasonable bathroom. The room was quiet and I couldn't hear anything outside (but I also had a fourth floor room in the back). It's definitely a great value for the dollar, I will stay there again next time I'm in Miami.

my girlfriend and I stayed at the Starlite in May 2009. We thought it was cool for the price we paid. If you're just looking for a place to crash then you'll get that. If you have a car rental don't park Valet at the Hotel but instead park on Washington and 7th inside The Miami Parking Structure and you'll pay 1 buck per hour. Other than that...the service was allright...but NOT AS BAD as other reviews make it seem.

Hotel's location is extremely convenient and overall, is a good value for the money

For the location and price it was great. Definetly a place where all the fellas can stay at and not need to much.

I was totally surprised and pleased with the room. The hotel is a little older but the room had been updated. Even though it was pretty plain it was comfortable and clean and what a great location. WOW!! I couldn't ask for anything better. Only a block from the beach/ocean and right in the middle of great night life. For the price I paid I was expecting a complete shack but The Starlight was a great surprise.

The hotel is right on the south bach. But it looks like a dodgy hotel and wasn't very comfortable. They also charge $100 deposit on check-in promising to credit it back on check-out. Don't see why the need to do that when they can charge you afterwards on any damage anyways.

THE STAFF IS THE BEST HERE!! THEY ARE FUN AND WILL DRINK WITH YOU AND BUY YOU DRINKS!! PERFECT LOCATION IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ACTION OF SOUTH BEACH RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO WET WILLIES AND ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE BEACH!

The hotel was in a great location and a low price. That's the only good thing about it. They didn't provideclean linen everday in fact one day didn't provide us with any. When I called the front desk for wash cloths she told me to wait until the next day to bathe. Her attitude sucked. She didn't make any attempt to rectify the situation. My bed was sunken in in the middle. There were bugs in the bathroom. It was just a terrible experience.

When I first walked into the room, I expected the room to smell horrible, however I was totally shocked to find that it not only smelled great but it was nicely decorated and it had no carpet. The lady at the front desk was nice and funny. I would totally recommend anyone to stay at the Starlite. Its cheap and for the price you get a nice and decent room. But the most important thing is that the hotel is located on Ocean Drive, where all the fun is located!!

I know that there were some bad reviews for this hotel but I stayed anyways.. it is right in the middle of everything in south beach.next door to wet willies,mangos is 1 block away. if you are looking for a great location on south beach this is it!!!!front desk was nice fresh towels everyday and all the clubs,bars,and beaches you need within walking distance

This hotel is in the middle of everything on ocean drive between 7th and 8th. The location was absolutely perfect if u want the beach right there, plus the bars, clubs, and dinning all within reach. Although it's not a 5 star hotel, the room was clean and had maid services. I've stayed in much worse in Miami. For the money, you definitely can not beat it!

If you are looking for a cheap hotel in an amazing location, book here. I was there on Spring Break with three of my buddies. It was perfect for us. It isn't as clean as we would like, but we expected that with the amount we paid. The beach is across the street, as are the volleyball courts. There are restaurants, bars, shopping and clubs all within walking distance. I have a small case of mysophobia and I survived the hotel. If you don't want to pay much, and don't plan on using your room for more than sleeping and showering, this is your hotel on South Beach.

Miami is overrated

can't complain about the location, which was the reason for selecting the hotel; however were very disappointed with cleanliness of the hotel.

The hotel is right on Ocean Drive close to everything. But the actual room isn't all that great. Then again you stays in there room while in Miami on vacation.

Great location but several of the lights didnt work in the room, bed was hard and falling apart. Room was cleaned but didnt appear that way. If your not looking for luxury and is stranded then stay at this hotel. Also, front desk clerk was rude and unprofessional.

This is not a five star hotel to go on a romantic getaway or if you plan on spending tons of time in your hotel room (besides sleeping and showering) this is not the hotel for you. But if you are just looking for a place to crash, a great location on South Beach, and a fairly clean and nice hotel than this is the place for you. Just be sure to leave a daily tip for the housekeeping (they like you more:) The rooms are modest and can fit 4, but you can also rent roll-aways and fit up to 6 people in a room. Overall a perfect place to sleep and a great location!

If one is going to stay in South Beach, this is the place. The main reason why I recommend this hotel is because of the location. Let me repeat this, LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! The location is awesome, it's right off Ocean Drive, which is right on the beach. Everything is walking distance: the beach, atm, food, club, and many other stores that one could need. The thing that sucks is that there is no hotel parking. I had to park in a garage and paid $40 a day.

Right next to Wet Willies Good location for college students. Easy access to beach. Easy to drink in room, walk to the beach and vice versa.
