Hotel Blake - Chicago

We arrived later in the day for our one night stay and the service was wonderful. I enjoyed the room and classic feel of the hotel itself. the only thing that was lacking was the free continental breakfast which I suppose can't be that much of complaint since it was free... I would definitely recommend this hotel or stay here again myself.

smaller than usual room with uncomfortable flat king size bed. the walls were filthy & in diare need of a face lift. the night bellman was fabulous & so helpful with the smallest of things. however the day bellman is a waste of your time and in need of a position where rudeness is acceptable. He never greeted our family nor anyone else that i noticed with a smile or warm hello. i awaited in front of the hotel for valet and the bellman to assist with our luggage for approximately 10 minutes before walking inside to ask for a bellman to find out he had walked past me 3 times with out a peep. Definitely not worth the money or slight inconvenience of the location compared to other hotels in the mag mile area!

I was extremely disappointed with the hotel. The room was dusty-thick dust around the lamps and lamp shades. The tv remote didn't work-not sure why. We went to the hotel desk to see if we could get batteries for the remote and the staff person said the engineer had gone home for the night and he couldn't find any batteries. So basically tough luck. The remote not working wasn't that big of a deal, but what if it had been something more extreme. I was initially going to book for two nights and I am so glad I wasn't stuck there for two nights. The hotel rooms need to be updated. The staff was okay. Greg the concierge was the best. Very helpful with restaurants and parking.

Having found the Hotel Blake through this service and relying on the comments posted, I was very pleased with our stay at the Hotel Blake. With only 6 rooms per floor, the hotel was very quiet and peaceful. The room was spacious, clean, and well appointed. The staff was very welcoming, efficient, and friendly, and they gladly offered very helpful suggestions for our first visit to Chicago. The Hotel is 2 blocks from the elevated train loop and only 2 blocks from Grant Park, State Street, Michigan Avenue, and other important city sites. The Hotel Blake was a great find, and I will definitely continue to stay there on return visits to Chicago! Thanks for guiding us there!

Enjoyed our stay - close to public transportation. Car parking was inconvenient when needed to get to the car to retrieve something. Small rooms as expected, but MOST IMPORTANT TO US WAS: IT WAS CLEAN

Went to Chicago to go to the Oprah show. Chose the Hotel Blake due to others' reviews. Was very impressed. Used the hotel valet parking for safety and convenience. Took a cab to the show and back. Hotel staff was wonderful. Kept our bags for us until we returned from show even though we had already checked out. I will definately stay here again when I am back in town.

The two doormen that I had aquaintence with were wonderful and helpful in suggesting places to eat and helping with taxi services and bus stop locations. I did not like that the check-in time was 3pm since I arrived in Chicago at noon. I also did not like the check-out time of noon since my train did not leave Chicago until 6pm. Another problem was that the wall in the room we stayed had a hole in it. The hallway to our room smelled like a sewer when we got there and like a skunk when we left.

The Hotel was great for the deal we received from Hotels.com. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The only down side would be the continential breakfast. It only consisted of bagels, apple/banana and juice/coffee. Not too much to choose from, but if you don't care if the continential breakfast is large, then all is great. The room was very clean, the bathroom as well and the marble was beautiful. Only a walk in shower, no bathtub. Would definately stay here again!

Nice location within walking distance of Lou Malnatti's and Buddy Guy's Legends. The lakefront is relatively close as well.Parking is a bit of an issue but then again that is quite common in downtown Chi. You can either valet at the hotel for $40 per night with unlimited access or use the garage across the street for $25 but you can't move it.Breakfast could have been a bit more ss far as the items available but overall I would stay here again.

I arrived with few expectations, this was my first stay at the Blake. I was tremendously pleased with the experience and recommend it to folks staying in Chicago.

I have been in lots of hotels but this one was fabulous to the max. It was awesome. The hotel desk clerks were friendly, helpful, and informative. The rooms were exceptional. The breakfast was great. I wanted to take the room I stayed with me....it was that great. It is worth the money and then some.

great value for a very nice hotel, high ceilings made the room feel comfortable. nice amenities in rooms like ipod station, pull out couch, comfortable chairs, real comfortable bed

This hotel was wonderful. Very close to a metro and the mag mile was only a few blocks away. The room was comfortable and clean and a great size. And the bathroom was awesome the rainfall shower was a great added touch. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

The hotel was perfect. We had a wonderful room. It was VERY clean, modern and the bed and linens were so comfortable. The staff was extremly helpful as well. Overall the hotel was wonderful. The location was a little further south than we'd expected, but it actually turned out great because the neighborhood was nice and quiet.

The Blake Hotel's got a cool modern vibe in what is a historic building on Printer's Row. Our single king room was very spacious and had a great window wall that looked out to downtown. I really liked the room's furnishings and layout. It's in walking distance to Millenium Park and the Art Institute. The service was great and the doorman was really nice.

Very clean, comfortable, and quiet. I would stay here again. Close to the lake with a great view of the beautiful Library building. Friendly and helpful staff.

The room was neat, had plenty of space and was very quite. The beds were very comfortable also. We would stay in this hotel again.

Compared to other hotels near Michigan Ave, this one did have a more spacious room than I am accustomed to especially with the high ceilings. However, there did not seem to be much luxury about the accomodations other than the size. Great if you can get a good price.

Could use a fridge in the room. Otherwise, extremely nice, clean room, comfortable bed. Though on 3rd floor, I found street noise not a problem.

I was in Chicago for a conference, and wanted to stay somewhere that didn't charge outrageous rates. Hotel Blake exceeded my expectations. Had wi-fi, provided a simple but filling breakfast (bagels, cakes, and juice), and the rooms were beautiful. Would stay there again.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Blake for a vacation in July 2009. We were very pleased with the hotel. The price is very reasonable compared to surrounding hotels. The hotel rooms were very spacious. The hotel staff was very accommodating. We were very pleased with our stay at Hotel Blake and hope to stay there again soon!

Great price, great room. Not for people who spend a lot of time in the room. There's no mini bar or vending machines, etc. 2 blocks from the train, walking distance to all major downtown attractions, great neighborhood.

Conveniently located: We arrived at Union Station with just a couple small bags. It was a nice day, so we walked to the hotel in about 10 minutes. We attended a couple soccer matches at Soldier Field and walked there in about 25-30 minutes. Millennium Park is about a 10 minute walk. We wanted to visit Lincoln Park Zoo. We inquired with reception, and were told we could catch the bus across the street from the hotel, and that we could buy bus passes at the CVS pharmacy located a block from the hotel. We bought the passes, caught the bus, and were at the zoo in no time at all. If we'd wanted to catch the train, it would have been easy, however, although the L was close, we didn't hear it inside the hotel. Starbucks is located across the street as is the main branch of the Chicago Public Library. There is a Panera within 2 blocks. Pot Belly Sandwiches is located a couple doors down where we grabbed some food on our way out of town. We had breakfast at a Mexican restaurant, La Cocina, located a couple blocks away on S. Clark. It was nothing fancy, but was very good and for $15 we were both satisfied with the meal. Buddy Guy's blues club, Legends, is just a few blocks away on S. Wabash, where we enjoyed a great lunch featuring jambalaya, gumbo, and cornbread. It's a wonderful place to listen to live music in the evening, having visited the club several years ago, we didn't realize we were staying so close until we stumbled upon it by accident. Helpful, Efficient Staff: Besides helping us with the bus, we were checked in and assigned a room in less than 2 minutes–no kidding. the doorman were always inquiring if we needed anything cabs, directions, etc. Room: Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We booked a King Classic and it was perfect for 2 people. It had a very comfortable arm chair and ottoman, a nice flat panel TV and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. No, there wasn't a chest of drawers for clothes, but there was a closet with severa

There was a horrible smell in the hallway that lingered into our room. We notified the front desk but nothing was done about it. The beds were nice, the breakfast was lacking but enough to get you through until lunch, get there early though because they run out of food

I liked the location and I thought I got a lot of value for what I paid.

I really liked the hotel; the room was large,very nicely done with an excellent price for Chicago. Plus the staff was friendly and quite helpful. If you have a reason to be below Congress, it a great hotel otherwise the location can be a little too far south to be convenient.

The Hotel Blake should come highly recommended. Located near Michigan Avenue, the location gives anyone visiting the city easy access to downtown, but is far enough away from any disruptions at night. 24-hour access to valet parking made it easy to come and go. Very nice room with a spacious bathroom and shower. Great nights sleep on a very comfortable mattress. If much time would have been spent in the room, the small SD television may have bothered me, but it was never even turned on. At checkout, the hotel staff was great. I was able to leave the bags while we toured the city for the afternoon before picking up the car. Extra ammenities were given when we left. Overall, a great stay and will definitely check back with Hotel Blake on the next visit to Chicago.

Walking distance to downtown, Grant Park, Millenium Park.

Walking distance to E-trains and Metra. Many shops around and safe too. Room is very clean, bed is comfortable. We had a perfect trip in Chicago!

Although I spent most of my time in Chicago working, the Hotel Blake was a quite and oasis for relaxing and recharging for the day ahead. I very much enjoyed the room and staff.

Outstanding location for us., needs improvement in cleaning the showers, needs dresser for clothing items,better set up for continental breakfast,very poor lighting in rooms, was not worth the price we paid.

This is a very clean, quaint, comfortable hotel with very accomodating staff. The hotel is only a few blocks from Grant Park, and a great center location for visiting Chicago. The only draw back is the occasional street noise at night, but that is to be expected downtown.... nothing a couple of ear plugs cant fix.

Kind of pricey for the room...but very comfortable and quiet. Very pleasant and helpful staff very easy access to everything you want to see and do in Chicago.

The hotel was very nice. The staff was great and had good suggestions for restaurants and bars in the area. Great location. Only downfall was that there is no vending in the building, but there is fast food and drugstores nearby.
