The Drake Hotel - Chicago

The Drake has the best location in Chicago and the hotel room is specious and comfortable. The conceirge is very dependable.

My husband and I were very satisfied with the entire visit. The staff went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed and then some. Exceptional condition for one of the oldest hotels in Chicago!!

We were traveling with out small dog. The Drake hotel accepts pets and was told by both the booking agent and also stated on the web-site that there was no pet fee. We only had to sign a waiver incase our pet caused any damage. We had friends that were staying at another hotel in Chicago that charged a pet fee. This was one of the reasons we chose the Drake, At check-in we were told there would be a cleaning fee (non-refundable. I could have had my 3 bedroom home cleaned for a month for the price they charged for the "pet cleaning fee". Also room very small and could hear our neighbors. Had a great big screen TV but charged for everything and I mean everything couldn't even watch local TV station without being charged. Room was very hot and stuffy had the AC down to 68 but still no relief. My husband and I were so excited about our trip to Chicago and staying at "The Drake Hotel". Sad to say we were very Disappointed. Loved Chicago but not The Drake. sorry Oprah

The room, hotel and service was beautiful. Only problem ...I paid cash for my parking when I arrived at the hotel and then when I checked out I saw that they had charged it to my credit card. I talked to the manager about the double-charge and they fixed it with minimal difficulty. Overall, my stay was marvelous and I would definitely stay again. It is a very elegant and classy hotel with fantastic service!

it not only met my expectation but it made it a comfortable stay and it was a perfect location... any one visiting chicago shld stay in DRAKE if it is ok for your pocket :)

Great Old Chicago Hotel

we were very disappointed with the fact that Hotels.com advertised free parking during our stay but the hotel was not at all aware of this promotion and we had to have our car parked and was very inconvenient--will not refer to internet booking in the future!

From the doormen to the front desk, concierge and staff, everything was wonderful. The hotel has the old world class of the finest in Chicago. The location is just off the north end of the Magnificent Mile within walking distance of Old Town and the River. The room was comfortable, the bed, fabulous, the bathroom quite large. There a fun shops on the ground floor and cocktail bars off the lobby and downstairs. We enjoyed the Drake Special at Le Coq d'Or, a specialty drink for chocolate lovers! The best part is the very short walk to the Lake front! We would return again and again if we only had the time...

Great room for the money! Top notch! It even included a ocmplimentary breakfast! The Hotel is in an ideal location to the Magnificent Mile!

Hotel charged a $25. early check in fee for check in at 1pm rather than 3pm even though room was ready.

The Drake was all we had hoped it would be: glamorous, luxurious and fun. Pricey, yes, but for a splurge we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Drake Hotel under differing ownership over the many years of its existance remains one of the truly first class hotels in Chicago.

The hotel staff seemed to truly care about the guests. The receptionists were very caring and at check-in they apologized for our wait when the previous person took a while to get her room. The first night I was there, I had gotten a rose from my boyfriend who picked me up from the airport and I didn't put it in water. The next day the cleaning ladies found a tall glass and put it in water for me. I was very impressed by that.

The Drake is truly a Chicago institution and lives up to it's reputation. Beautiful rooms, attentive staff, and old world grandeur abound. We even got an upgrade to an executive room with a view upon check-in! We had a wonderful stay. However, The Drake is located at the very north end of the "Magnificent Mile" and is a long walk to most center city sites. Something to consider if you're not into taking a cab everywhere.

We had recently stayed at the Hotel Burnham and were eager to try The Drake, given its reputation. Nevertheless, we were a bit disappointed. The room was relatively small and was not entirely clean. The last occupant's used bar of soap was still on the edge of the tub. The common areas (lobby, lounge, etc.) of the hotel were stunning, but the decor of our room left something to be desired. It's a beautiful hotel, but for the money, I would go with the Hotel Burnham, et. al., in downtown Chicago.

A great hotel but some of the rooms are kind of dated. Carpeting is stained, paint chipped in bath. Room was very small and cramped for the price paid. service was very good until checkout. Called for bell service and was told someone would be right up. Took over 35 minutes and I had to go to the bell desk and ask where they were. Housekeeping, concierge and front desk staff were all efficient, friendly and accomodating.

Prices in mini bar excessive even for convenience. Room very comfortable. Loved having safe in room. Staff very friendly.Poor quality toilet tissue -- have had better in countryside in Europe!

No WiFi in rooms. Outrageous price to use WiFi while sitting in the lobby which, in any event, would make one feel awkward in the grand lobby of The Drake.

Although very beautiful - they need to get up-to-date re: internet.

We're just back from a week in The Drake. We had a fabulous time and the hotel really made it special. The location was excellent and the staff were very helpful. We're counting the days to our next visit already!

We have stayed at the Drake many time and love it. On this visit we blew a fuse using the iron (it was fixed promptly) and could not control the heat. Had the lowest temp possible and it was still way too warm. Used the window to cool!

Great location. Bedding was excellent. easy to walk around to the shops on Michigan Ave.

Loved the location, room and hotel!

Legendary hotel on the corner of Michigan Avenue & Lake Shore Drive. We made the reservations on Tuesday and checked in 24 hrs later to a beautiful room facing Oak Street beach and Lake Michigan - it was outstanding! Just a half block to the John Hancock building and 2 blocks from a great restaurant on Rush Street. We were treated like royalty - but didn't have to pay a king's ransom. Thanks hotels.com! KA

Fantastic Chicago staple, comes through on quality service. Only problem was I asked for a shoe shine - while the bellman was quick to pick up my shoes and return them...they weren't shined. Other than that, facilities and other services were excellent.

We had a relative from Australia and were very impressed with the attentive staff at check-in. Room and location was great, service excellent which capped off of visit to Chicago (fantastic city)

The hotel was outstanding. While the cost is a little high it was well worth it!

I have lived in Chicago all my life and have always wanted to stay at the Drake. With the wonderful deal I got through Hotels.com I was able to do just that. I stayed on the night of the Chicago St. Patty's Day Celebration and was out almost all night. But when I did return tot he Hotel. I slept like a baby, I even overslept (which I never do). I would definately like to stay again. The only down thing about the hotel is they no longer have any smoking rooms. For some of us this raises a problem.

My stay at the Drake was everything and more than I expected. The decor was lavish and classic. I found the entire staff from doormen, bellmen and guest services to be very professional and accomodating. My room was very comfortable, especially the bed. It was also very clean and neat. It's location was perfect for me...near all the shopping I places I adore. I would reccommend the Drake to others and look forward to staying there in the future.

I was more than pleasantly surprised that I was able to secure such a phenomenal rate at the Drake hotel! What would have normally cost me hundreds per night I paid only a fraction of the cost. However, my promised "city view" was not what I expected - - I was put on the 2nd floor with a lovely view of the fire escape. I'm sure they probably gave the "better" rooms to the full-paying customers, and I can't say I blame them for that I guess. Had a hard time controlling room temperature. Even when adjusted to 60 degrees it still felt HOT!!!! Other than that, it was a nice experience. I'd stay there again, would just ask for a room with a better view upon arrival.

A beautiful, beautiful hotel. Elegant and warm. Fantastic location close to excellent entertainment, restaurants, shopping. Very friendly and thoughtful staff. Spacious, quiet rooms. High tea, cabaret singer, and swing band were fantastic. Magical!
